Being Committed to Yourself The Most Important Relationship Youll Have

Being Committed to Yourself The Most Important Relationship Youll Have The most important relationship you are going to have in your life is the one with yourself. And so often it gets put on the backburner. Which is a bit of a strange thing to think. So how do you commit to yourself? Commitment is the dedication or devotion to something. No matter what, you will support and care for that thing or person. So it is time to make the person you. It is essential to know that being committed to yourself in no way means you can’t be committed to your family and other people, but instead that you see your needs and wants as equal to theirs. Big Stuff So if you were to think about what it is you wanted to have for yourself right now, what would it be? Here are a few things to think about: Inspiring others To always be creative Painting at least once a week To travel to XYZ countries To have fulfilling relationships that serve you and the person in question To create a lifestyle that you enjoy fully When you commit to these things, you no longer become hesitant about them. They are things that you are going to do, no matter what. You are going to do them. For you. Initial Commitment Once you have decided on the things that you want to achieve and do, for you, no matter what, you should mark the occasion. If you were making the commitment to another person, you would choose a ring and bestow it upon them. So do the same for yourself. Diamond cut engagement rings from Tacori are a perfect choice. Buy yourself something that signifies the commitment that you are making to yourself. And whenever you get disheartened of feel like you aren’t reaching your goals, look at the sparkle on your finger and get back to work. Compromise It might get tricky. There will be occasions where what you want and what people in your life don’t match up. And you will need to decide if the compromise now is worth it later on. You shouldn’t be afraid to speak your mind and tell people that you have goals that you want to meet. But, there will always be a little trepidation at sharing or saying no. The art of compromise is to know what and when it is too much for you, and when it doesn’t help you at all. Responsibility If there are things you aren’t happy with, then most often, the person who is responsible for it is ourselves. We do often have much more power than we think to change what is around us, and even more with how to react to it. If you are honest about how much of what you currently aren’t happy with is because of your decisions, and how much is because of others? Take responsibility and stop placing blame. If you take responsibility, you are taking control of the results and the actions. Mistake Making Few things in life teach us as profoundly as making mistakes does. And surely you will have made some in the past (which you now take responsibility for), and you are likely to make some in the future on the way to achieving the goals you set for yourself. A successful person is not afraid to try and is not afraid to fail. Because no matter how old you are now, you still have time. Check-In The dreams and goals that you have written down will need regular updates and check-ins. The chances are if you had written something like ‘be a billionaire in 3 weeks’, that might be a bit of a stretch. However, if you write something like a million in a few years and break that down into monthly earnings, you might find it much more digestible. When you do reach a goal, then tick it off and add another one. Gratitude Being happy with what you have and going after what you want in a positive way is going to take gratitude. Looking at what you have now that you are grateful for. It could be anything that you are thankful for. The roof over your head, the soft pillow, a piece of software that made your life easier it can be anything. As well as material things, think about the type of person you are. Are you thankful for your can-do attitude, or the intuition that never steers you wrong? Being committed to yourself is a lifelong relationship and requires work and time. So what are you waiting for?

How Facebook Could Transform Talent Attraction... But Its Gonna Cost

How Facebook Could Transform Talent Attraction... But Its Gonna Cost Newspaper job  adverts  are dead, long live radio! Radio talent attraction is dead, long live job boards! Job  boards are dead, long live LinkedIn! LinkedIn is dead, long live… Ok, I know LinkedIn is far from dead, but the way many recruiters have used it, it may just be dying out with new changes. So, what’s next? There is one thing for sure,  whatever it is, it aint  gonna be free! And it might just be any one of the dead channels above, or a completely new one.   As a recruitment marketer, I am always keeping my ear to the ground on the new methods that can be used to deliver great ROI. So, what’s on my radar at the moment? Things like: LinkedIn: Ads platform and pixel Facebook: Ads platform, pixel and messenger bots Programmatic: Companies like Adroll,  Adbeat and Jobs The Word So, let’s take a dive into how we can use the tools that marketers use on Facebook  to deliver  their campaigns, and how we can use the same tools as recruitment marketers. Facebook targeting When starting to advertise on Facebook, it can seem like a bit of a confusing  minefield. For a start, it is a tad more difficult to create your audience than using the similar tools on LinkedIn.   So, why bother? The  audience is huge and active.   To be precise, Facebook has over 2 billion monthly users…I will let that soak in for a second…2 BILLION…compared to LinkedIn’s 25% active monthly users meaning circa 125 million. On Facebook, you can still target industry, job title, location and other demographics. Also, at the moment, you can advertise on the dodgy ad boxes on the right of your Facebook newsfeed and directly in a user’s newsfeed. Soon, you will be able to push messages out through messenger as well. Whilst the Facebook ads platform is more complicated, you are led through by being offered specific advert types based upon your intention. You will also find that Facebook ads cost very little compared to the platforms, but the key here is converting traffic into known candidate leads. Doing so will require more effort. Facebook pixel audiences An integral part of any marketer’s toolbox is the  Facebook pixel. The  Facebook pixel is  installed on  your website and tracks your visitors. It then lets you push  adverts to this audience on Facebook. Here are a couple of great  strategies to build audiences that you might consider: Track everyone who visits a specific type of job on your  website and then re-advertise relevant jobs to this audience in the future meaning you are pushing adverts to people that are interested. Target people that visited  your website once but have not done so in the last 6 months. This  could be a valuable asset when planning how to keep your audience engaged and compliant for the new General Data Protection Regulations coming in the year 2018. Stage targeting  The secret sauce This is where  you can get  really smart. Let’s be honest, people will visit your site and drop off  before applying for jobs.   This could be for a number of reasons…they  don’t know you as an employer of choice, you  didn’t have the exact role they want to apply for, they got distracted…and lots more. By building out your pixel strategy, you can deliver a campaign of employer branding  content to your audience based upon how engaged they are. This might look something like: Becoming aware  High level branding, information on your  services, locations, cool products, your teams and thought leadership Once they aware we can educate the audience on your  employer brand This will include content like awards, team stories, employee profiles, relevant white papers and news on local careers. Now they are educated, let’s help them  consider  This is where you highlight your value propositions…why should they work for you,  rather than for a competitor. Show them videos and  stories about what their job and career progress would look like.   When a group of people are actively considering you as an employer, use this  audience to invite them to an open day, interview day, apply for jobs, a careers  webinar… do you get where I am going here? So, there you go; a great few ways to use Facebook to target your required audience, segment your audience into talent pools and to deliver the right content to them to help them consider you as an employer of choice. But, of course,  all of this will cost. Every time you promote a post to your  audience on Facebook, you will be paying to do so.   But,  don’t panic as Facebook’s advertising platform can return a great ROI if you carefully plan your messaging, content and candidate lead conversion tactics. Will Facebook be the new king? Who knows, and who cares? As long as we stay on top of what’s new, we will be there to find out.

5 Things To Know Before Going Into A Job Interview - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

5 Things To Know Before Going Into A Job Interview - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career You walk into the interview room and you are ready. You’re looking good, feeling confident, and ready to show off your skills. But then things start to go south. The interviewer isn’t smiling, he doesn’t seem that interested in what you have to say, and wait--did he just yawn? Even if you give stellar responses in an interview, there are other things an interviewer expects but never tells you. Here are five insights into an interviewer’s mind that can help you during your next interview: 1. They want real impact statements. Simply put, interviewers want proof to back up what you say. When you’re asked to “talk about a time when you overcame a problem,” don’t just tell them the story of how you conquered the company email database, making it more user-friendly. Tell them how your solution impacted the company. Did the company newsletters reach 250 more people? Did it allow you to grow your client base by 15 percent? Even the best told story isn’t as interesting to an interviewer as cold, hard facts. 2. Your answer should have ended five minutes ago. It’s natural to ramble when you’re nervous, but know when to stop yourself before you begin to give TMI. Get to your point and stay on topic. If the original question was about your educational background and you’re now talking about your Freshman year roommate, it’s time to shut up. Know where the line between appropriate and inappropriate lies and do not cross it. This doesn’t just mean being polite, but also professional. If your last boss was terrible and you’re asked about him, focus on flaws with his managerial style, not his personality or character. This is an opportunity to tell the interviewer what type of relationship you prefer to have with a superior, not bash an old boss. 3. Show them you’ve done your research. The company has already looked into you, so you need to spend time researching if this particular company is right for you. Before you even apply for the job, vet the company. Dig through their website, read their blog, follow them on social media and see what interests you. This will give you a feel for the company culture and how well you’ll enjoy working there. It also lets you know what to highlight in your answers. If the company works closely with a charity you volunteer for, bring it up. Once the interviewer knows you’ve taken the time to look into the company, they’ll see how serious you are about the job. 4. Interviews go both ways. Nobody likes sitting silently while someone talks at them. Your interviewer wants you to talkwith them. Ask your interviewer questions about the work environment and the future of the company. By doing that, you’re no longer in the middle of a nerve-wracking interview but having a conversation where both sides are building a relationship. When you leave an interview, the company knows if you’re the right person for the job. They want to know that you’re equally confident about them. It would be a waste of resources to train you and three months later you realize the work environment isn’t for you. 5. What “we’ll be in touch” actually means. It brings all kinds of questions to mind, like are you going to call me or should I call you? And how long should I wait? The hiring process is long and it’s only getting longer. A Glassdoor study found the average time of the interview process in the U.S. has increased from 12.6 days to 22.9 days. So hold your horses, it might be a while. The interview is the perfect time for you to find out more about the company’s process. They know they won’t make the final decision until the end of the month, but you don’t. Save yourself a lot of time waiting by the phone and ask what the next steps in the process are. What other secrets do you know about an interviewer’s expectations?

Change The Only Thing That is Constant

Change The Only Thing That is Constant Change: The Only Thing That Is Constant Change happens. It’s sometimes very scary to have things change. We are creatures of habit and routine, and when things are disrupted, the uncertainty can be almost paralyzing. But it can be completely freeing, too. When you throw off the conventional chains of daily living, things get shaken up.   The old rules don’t apply. We often get so stymied by following a pattern of rote behaviors that come about a pattern of routine that we fail to push past the humdrum of daily activities to see the possibility waiting outside. When things shift, the realm of possibility gets blown wide open. Mary Schmich, a columnist for the Chicago Tribune, wrote in a June 1997 essay to do one thing every day that scares you. That’s where embracing it can help you grow as a person. Whether you are facing change in job duties, change in leadership, change in salary, change in employment, change in what you want to do for a living, change in taking on a stretch assignment, change in responsibility, or change in learning new things that are important to your work, it is clear to see that change is a powerful learning experience. Looking beyond the scary part (things aren’t what they used to be!) and seeing the valuable learning and personal growth opportunities will help you be well-equipped to handle the how things are shifting. Someone once told me, “When you fear change the most, that’s exactly when you need it the most.” Truer words were never spoken. The psychology of this statement is this: When you are fearfully clinging to what you know best, it means you aren’t growing or don’t want to grow. When you get to that point where it is almost paralyzing, you are really at the end of a road that is no longer sustainable, and you are going to be forced to adapt. So what better way to navigate than by stepping up, looking it in the eye, and embracing it? If you face down your fears, you’ll see that you have allowed them to gain bigger stature in your mind than what they really are. The best strategy to handle big shifts and minimize those fears? Get acquainted with change. Do research, find out how it impacts things, and how you might benefit from it, rather than what you might lose from it. If you maintain a positive approach, you’ll be able to learn valuable new skills, new ideas, new expertise, new opportunities, and find out a whole new dimension to yourself. And remember, new things happening doesn’t just happen once. It is constant. I’ll close with an example I experienced lately. In my hometown of Portland, Oregon, I have been involved with the hospitality / meetings industry for 20+ years now. The other day, I attended an industry meeting at a local hotel which has been a bedrock of luncheon meetings for my entire hospitality career. Walking in this time, I saw that they had completely remodeled the interior (again). I think this is the third or fourth time. It was completely unrecognizable yet I knew the layout. As I marveled at this most recent facelift, I was reminded of what it used to look like when I first got going in my career, which seems forever ago. But the biggest lesson here?  You can’t stop forward progress. The only thing you can do is adapt your attitude about it and embrace it to be successful.
